FILM FEST

The Sthree FilmFest is exclusively for women
-
It is open to all women above 18 years of age (as of November 2025)
-
The total run time of the short film should be a minimum of 3 minutes to a maximum of 15 minutes including opening and closing credits
-
The last date to submit the film is October 15th 2025
-
All films (including English) must include English subtitles in a formatted SRT file
-
The film can be shot on a DSLR or a mobile phone
-
Shortlisted films need to submit a DCP format copy of the short film.

The film shall not be shortlisted for the following reasons:

Obscene content
-
Poor video or audio quality
-
Extreme violence/bloodshed
-
Copyrighted footage or music used
-
Trademarked names or brands mentioned
-
Any other condition the organisers consider to be reason for not shortlisting

Shortlisted entries will get an e-certificate and a memento
-
Top 3 films will be chosen as winners
-
Winners will get e-certificates, memento and gift vouchers from the sponsors.
FESTIVAL DAY

The film festival will be held on Nov 2nd 2025

The event venue in Chennai TBA

The day will include screening of the shortlisted movies, guest speakers from the industry and the awards ceremony

Any disputes including copyright issues arising after the short film is uploaded on the channel, will disqualify the film from the festival

GENERAL AGREEMENT FOR PARTICIPATION in Sthree FilmFest.
I have read and accept the Rules and Regulations of Sthree FilmFest. I certify that I hold necessary rights for the presentation of this film in Sthree FilmFest and that all rights and permissions have been made. This film is not subject to any litigation nor is threatened by any litigation. By accepting these conditions, I transfer to Sthree FilmFest the right to use excerpts of the submitted film, its stills, and trailers, for the purposes of publicity and marketing of the film at the various social networks and for other non-commercial purposes related to the promotion of the festival. I hereby agree to indemnify Sthree FilmFest, in the event that such rights have not been properly transferred.

Are only women filmmakers allowed to participate?

Yes. Only women filmmakers are allowed to submit their short films

Can the crew members be of mixed gender?

Yes. The crew and cast can be of mixed gender

Is there a limitation on number of team members?

No. You are free to work with as many team members as you want

I am an Indian woman residing out of India. Can I participate?

Yes you can

Is there any age limit for the participants?

Minimum age is 18 and there is no upper age limit

Can we use vfx and animations in the short film?
-
You may use vfx and basic animations to add value to your short film. However, films made completely through vfx and animations will not be accepted

Can we submit more than 1 entry per participant?

Multiple entries are allowed and each entry will require to be registered for participation

Can we submit films made earlier?
-
Yes you can submit films done in the past for the festival

Can we make the short film in any language?
-
You can make the short film in any of the Indian languages including the rarest dialects from any corner of India. However, all films should include English subtitles without which the film shall not be shortlisted

Can we shoot on any mobile phone?
-
Yes. You are free to shoot your film on any phone as long as it is in 1080p output

I am working as an Assistant Director already. Am I eligible to participate?

Yes. Anyone who does not have a feature or web series credited to their name as director or writer is eligible to participate

I am student and would like to participate but have no experience. Am I allowed to?
-
Yes. The festival is open to first timers and amateurs also. Students from film institutes or any other institute doing a non-film course are also welcome to participate
